Final Face

Here she is folks! Face #29. Woo hoo! I'm so excited that I created 29 faces.

As I said in a previous post, I plan to bind all the faces into a book/journal when I get a binding machine. I want to buy a Cinch, but I'm waiting for the new version that punches square holes to come out on the market. I was told by a company representative last week that they will be out in the retail market next month. That's all they said. So I'm assuming by that statement they will be ready to buy sometime in March.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and commented on my faces throughout the challenge. There were so many who participated in the challenge and I did not make it to visit everyone's faces.

While I totally enjoyed creating all the faces, I think I may just be ready for a face break. And who knows...I may even be ready to work on a quilt. Yay!

Winding Down with 27 and 28

Faces #27 and #28 for the 29 Faces Challenge. I changed the background up a bit and added some collaged papers. I love using newspaper print, especially headline text. But unfortunately I don't subscribe to any newspapers so I usually don't have any on hand. Magazine text would be good too but there again, the only subscription I have is an art quilting magazine and I don't want to cut that up. I guess maybe I should just pick up a newspaper or magazine off the newsstand on occasion.

And here again, is another doodle on top of a gelli print.

One more face to go. Yay!!!!

Faces 25 and 26

Faces #25 and #26 for the 29 Faces Challenge. I'm starting to think I sound like a broken record with all the face posts. Only three more faces to go. Woo hoo!

Here is another gelli print that I doodled on. I actually painted the flower red with some acrylic ink because it was sort of a white-ish blah and didn't stand out very much.

23 and 24

Here are faces #23 and #24 for the 29 Faces Challenge. I am thrilled with the collection of faces I've got now and I plan to bind them all into a wire-bound journal. But first I need to get myself one of those binding machines. I've pretty much decided to get a Cinch, but I'm waiting for the new one that punches square holes. I wrote to the company the other day to see when it will be out on the retail market. I hope soon.

Yes, Another Face

This is Face #22 for the 29 Faces Challenge. That means only seven more to go. It looks like I will probably make it through to the end of this challenge. I hope you will be able to hang in there with me.

And here is a drawing/doodle I did about a week ago, maybe. I forgot to share it here. This was a piece of paper that I used to clean my stencils on. I thought it would be fun to doodle on top of the colored area. And it was!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend.

Still Not Quilting

Well the quilting bug still hasn't returned to bite me so I will continue painting. I'm just finishing up week 2 of the Bloom True online course by Flora Bowley and will share my progress on Sunday.

Here is Face #21. So far, this is my least favorite and the reason I'm not liking her is because I put her eyes too low on her face. Oh well!

I also painted the following piece today. I felt like just playing with the paints. I think Flora's class has influenced that playfulness. This is painted on a piece of watercolor paper and is 9" x 12".

Faces 19 and 20

I started on Face #19 yesterday but just had too many other things to tend to and so I wasn't able to complete her until today.

Face #20, above, looks a little sad. I think she is reflecting my mood. We had a couple of days this week with lovely warmer temps and now we are headed today again toward colder temperatures. Blah!

Face 18

Wow, 18 faces so far. For today's face I thought I'd share a video of me making it.
I hope you enjoy it.

Gelli Doodling and Face 17

I felt like doodling the other day and so I grabbed one of my gelli prints and went at it. The text in the lower right corner was added in Photoshop and doesn't appear on the actual paper. I wasn't sure if I wanted to add some text or not so I tried it out digitally.

And here we have Face #17 for the 29 Faces Challenge. I did something completely different for this one. I felt like playing in my journal and added a face on the page. She is partially hidden by a sheer pink veil or curtain.

Oh My Gosh...A Quilt!

Can you believe it? I'm actually showing a quilt on my blog. Ha ha! It seems like they are sort of sparse here these days. I'm still going through my painting phase so, this quilt image will have to do for now.

This is the quilt that I made for entering into an exhibit called Living Colour. I received word about a week ago that my quilt was not selected to be included in the exhibit. I do believe, though, that there is another exhibit I can try to enter it into. Now I just need to get my ducks in a row and get on that. Or should that be cats in a row?

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! I hope you have a beautiful day.
I created the Valentine image above by starting with the Heart Flower stencil I designed (which is available at StencilGirlProducts.com). Then I added all the black ink lines, colored it with watercolors, wrote "i love you" with a gray pen, and added the small tossed hearts design using a stencil designed by Joanne Sharpe.

Below is Face #14 for the 29 Faces Challenge and she is celebrating Valentine's Day too.

Face #13 and still going strong.

Face 12

Wow, I'm up to 12 faces so far. I scanned this face instead of taking a photograph. It was dark outside and I just couldn't get some good lighting for a photograph and I didn't feel like setting up an arsenal of lights....and hey, that's what scanners are for right???

Mish Mash

Okay...I'll be honest! I haven't had one inkling anywhere in my body to work on a quilt. This happens to me occasionally and I don't sweat it. I have other things I love doing and that is what I do when this happens. Right now I'm in a painting mode. And I'm going with it.

In fact, I'm starting a new online course. Today. It's called Bloom True and is taught by Flora Bowley. I have enjoyed her work since becoming aware of her a few years ago. She started teaching an online class about two years or so ago and I've wanted to take it ever since. Well I'm treating myself to it now. I'm giving it to myself as an early birthday present. I turn 50 this year and I deserve it. Yes!!!

The class is not about painting like Flora, but about a process. The process of letting go of fears, stepping outside your box, and going with your gut. I will share my progress with the class here. You can see I've got my painting work space all set up in the photo above.

Below I am preparing pages in my art journal. I glue two pages together so they are stronger and can support lots of paint and stuff. The book I use is a repurposed old music book. I like to have pages ready so that when I'm painting on other things and have leftover paint, I can use it on the blank pages of my journal.

I've been working on other things too. I've been creating some new stencil designs (will share them with you at a later date). I've been babysitting my granddaughter and that takes full concentration. I've been starting to get paperwork and stuff ready for Mr. Tax Man. And I've been continuing with the 29 Faces Challenge.

This is Face #10. I could sense one of my crazy, big-eyed girls telling me she was ready to meet the world...so here she is.

Face 9

Face #9 for the 29 Faces Challenge.
I think this one is my favorite so far. I referred to my hairstyle magazine for her hair. Not that what I created here is what I was looking at in the magazine...LOL!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Face 8

Face #8 for the 29 Faces Challenge.
Today's face is simply a pencil drawing in my sketchbook. I feel like some of my recent faces look like they have puckered or pursed lips. Hmmmmm!!!

Face 7

Face #7 for the 29 Faces Challenge.
You may remember when I posted the first face for this challenge that I also took Dina Wakley's face class. I went back to one of the lessons and re-watched it and followed along more closely as Dina was demonstrating. This face is the result.  I think I will leave her unpainted as I kind of like it just like this.

Face 6

Face #6 for the 29 Faces Challenge.
This is another one that I had sitting around waiting to be finished.
