Backing and Basting

Today I found some time to get into the studio. I couldn't find a piece of fabric large enough to use for the backing on my quilt. So I pieced together some of the discarded fabrics from the project and created a strip. I then used a fabric that worked, colorwise, and that I had enough of to piece with this strip to create my back.

Next I did the basting. It's now ready to quilt.

Terri,
That is such a pretty quilt...colors are bright and fresh, and I like the design. The piecing on the back just adds charm to the overall quilt! Good job, especially when Christmas is right around the corner...to find time to work on a project! :)

Very nice and colorful. Are you going to hand or machine quilt it?

I like your quilt - and I like using up my scraps for a back too. Great job!

Awesome quilt. Only part I don't care for is the basting, but unfortunately it has to be done. Can't wait to see it all quilted and bound.

I think it's a great finish to use pieces from your quilt in the backing! Front and back are super!

Very nice! I love to do these pieced backs too. They add a lot to the quilt I think. (Love the front of your quilt as well, of course!)
Have a nice Christmas.

It is more than a solution, it is an extra quilt. Love it!

A sensational backing that is the "perfect fit" to match the front!

Ah, another baster! Seems like a lot of folks use quilt safety pins to hold things together, but I, too, baste. It's something I look forward to, like I look forward to handstitching the facing or binding.
Have a lovely Christmas Day!
