Look Ma...A New Book

I made my first ever hard cover book. Oooo Ahhhhhh!!!!!

It was actually pretty gosh darn easy. The part I hated most was getting glue on my fingers and then getting it on the pretty paper. I need to get a damp rag to keep handy. Now I have myself a brand, spanking new, handmade book to draw or write my deep, dark secrets. Hmmm I might scare myself if I write about those.

  1. Wow! How lovely is that! You can now make your own sketchbooks and journals, covering them with your own hand-dyed fabric. Very cool.

  2. Well, if you are going to write secrets then you must add the heart-shaped lock with a key!

The book is very nice. Sue has proabably created a new book monster!

  4. Great job! And isn't a wonderful feeling to stroke the glue onto the paper? It's therapy.

  6. That looks like a great project-it turned out really well. Here is the first line to help you out: "It was a dark and stormy night..."

  7. Oh! Ah!

I hope you are able to write in it. I made some journals and never could make a single mark in them. Just give me something funky and I can write for hours.

  8. Lovely, I really like the blue pattern. And it's always quite satisfying when you try something new and successfully complete it. Nice work :)

  9. Terri, I just made my first book as well, and am as excited as you are. What took us so long? I read voraciously and am a professional librarian, so I can't explain it.

What's your excuse? Or have you made many other books--this is just your first HARDCOVER book?

The only other book I've made was in class in grade six. It was about the Middle Ages and I still have it.
