Last night was my quilt guild's Christmas party. It was fun. There were games, door prizes and yummy food. There was also a quilt challenge that was optional to enter. A couple meetings ago we were given a fat quarter of fabric. Everyone received the same fabric. This was our focus or challenge fabric and we had to use it in the Christmas quilt challenge. There were four categories and I chose to enter the art quilt category. Above is my entry. The challenge fabric is the one that is the bottom-most hill.
I got the idea for this quilt from a mixed media painting class I took from Karyn Gartel. If you follow my blog you may remember I did a couple of paintings last spring with colorful hills and fun colorful houses. Well as I was trying to come up with an idea for my art quilt, I suddenly thought of snowy hills and an idea was born.
I think my husband even liked this quilt as he said "we need to find a place to hang that".
Oh, by the way, my Winter Wonderland quilt won the art category....YAY!
