  10. Wonderful giveaway, thank you :) The answer, though is not so easy... I don't care for satin finish on much of anything at all, but matte or gloss depends on the style of the art, the substrate used, the colors used, where it will ultimately be displayed, etc. Generally speaking, on contemporary, bright designs I prefer gloss and for darker colors or more traditional styles, I prefer matte. No help at all, am I?!

  11. Wowser, cool bags. Another great way to use your Go Girl motifs. Love it...

I prefer a matte finish on most items. The glare can distract me from the piece if it is too shiny.

Hope that gets me into the mega drawing...

    Hugs.

  14. Great bags. Happy blogaversary!
It depends on the art piece. Some things require a "shiny" finish, but most look best with either matte or satin.

The purses are goregous. I like a satin finish, but then it does matter as to what it is being applied to.

  16. I personally like a satin finish that I sometimes rub over with a fine piece of steel wool (lots of 0's) lightly to give it just a hint of texture..I love glossy but find it is hard to break up the shine so it isn't too much..with the satin I can almost make it matte but not quite. Have I confused you enough.

  17. i agree it depends on the project, but for the most part i prefer matte, because really most surfaces are matte, so to me it looks more natural.(unless you want that wet look)
    anyway, the bags are beautiful!
    hope i win!

  23. I so love your work! as for a finish, my first choice would be matte, 2nd would be satin. I'm not a glossy kind of girl.

  24. Terri, these bags are fabulous. I'd love to have one if you would put me into your drawing.

As for the finish...it's unlikely I would ever use a glossy finish; but I would select between matte and satin, both of which I like just fine. If the satin isn't too glossy, it can add a liveliness which I like, but matte is usually my first choice.

  25. Wow, you've been busy! Beautiful, as usual.
Generally, I prefer a matte finish, but it really depends on the piece. I've been know to like shiny things of all types!

  27. Hi! Love the bags! As far as my favorite sealer goes...it varies with the project. For example, I recently completed a Painted Lady (a Rock House) and sealed her with a glossy finish, so that the sun would play off of her corners. You know, draw all eyes to her as they pass. I also completed a mixed media collage that I sealed with a matte finish. I wanted the color of the collage to stand on its own...but if I had to just pick one, guess I'd go with a satin finish , as you can ultimately alter it a bit...more difficult to alter matte. I sound as changeable as everyone else that answered!www.carolbsloan.blogspot.com to see collage and Painted Lady (among various other things!).I love your art work!

I think a glossy finish brings up the color more than a non-glossy one. When glossy is too shiny, I usually go with satin. (Having two young sons, I've even gone to satin-finished walls. The harder finish is easier to clean.)
