Progress???

I've been working on some border sections for this quilt. The first photo shows how I had first thought to add these borders. I was originally thinking about putting four blocks in the corners.

Then I played with the border pieces and scooched them over. Now I'm wondering if I would like it better if I just continued on with this look and lengthened the border sections to fill the space around.

Oh the decisions!!!! Then, after that is decided, I will need to think about what's next? More or stop! The possibilities are endless!

  1. I like the bottom photo the best. I think specific corner blocks will take away from your beautiful centerpiece. It looks quite Asian inspired to me...

  2. Yes, I think in the second version, the outer parts give more contribution to the abstract character of the center piece. Be courageous, go abstract!

  3. The second version is my pick. Very appealing to me. The colors are also just wonderful!

  4. I'm with everyone else -- go in the direction of the second one. I'd also add that the wonderful painted(?) arcs in teh center blocks want out! Is there a way that a few arcs could play in the border as well? Keep going!

  9. I vote for #2 -- it seems to keep the feeling of the quilt.

    Love the colors!

  11. I guess I am the outsider on this one. The first one is onteresting to me just because of the asymmetrical look. I suppose it wouldn't hang right though. Too bad the corner blocks couldn't be more of those curvy center blocks to give it a rounded effect.

The second layout is quite traditional looking which is nice too-sort of encloses everything. Can't wait to see what you decide on-it is pretty regradless:)

  12. The second photo is more playful which is more "you" in my opinion. Very nice.

  13. I lean toward the second. The arcs in the body of the quilt look to me like flower stems bending in the breeze...I would envision a few appliquéd flowers like those sunflowers peeking out of the border print in the opposite corners...

Can't wait to see where you go with this...so many possibilities!
