New Work

I mentioned in yesterday's post about working on something new. Well here it is. I'm not quite finished with it as it needs a backing and edge finish. At this moment I'm unsure how I want to finish the edges -- traditional binding, faced, etc. So I think I'll think about it. Any thoughts?

It measures about 21" tall and 15" wide.

Oh and I also need to come up with a name for it. One of my favorite things to do. NOT!!!!

  1. What a lovely quilt! Have fun with naming it! I don't like coming up with names either - especially blog posts.

  3. Beautiful bunch of work here Terri.
Love the colour & piecing arrangement. It almost bounces on the "table".

  6. I'm a little unclear here - you're painting over the quilt fabric right?

How are you laying down the outlines of the figures?

Just serge the edges and paint on a binding.....*S*

  8. Ooh, I love your color combination here! The flowers especially have such enchanting detail.

For some reason, as I was admiring the flowers, I thought of a name like "Seven Sisters" (one for each).

    Regardless, this is so pretty!

  9. It's lovely Terri. I would probably bind it with one of the purples from the vase or the black from the flower centers.

  10. I love it! I would be tempted to either couch dark beige yarn on the edges after I had zig zagged them or a beige binding the color of the shadow at the base of the vase. I'm no good with names. Still life #1 would be the best I can come up with (presuming it is a series).

  11. I really like this piece. I think I am starting to recognize components of your style (well, duh!)and really like the pieced flowers and vase.

I stink at naming pieces so sorry, no help there:)

  12. Nice! The couching sounds like it would be a good match to the scrappy background. I'm with Sue..."Purple Vase" or "Purple vase/Golden flowers"!

  13. This is fabulous - love how you've pieced the vase! I'd consider one of the neutral colors from your background for the binding or yarn, so the vase and flowers maintain their own interest. (but of course I could be way off!)

  14. This small a piece, you could do a "wobbly" edge. put it on the batting, and then put the backing face to face with the top. Sew around the edges, making waves. Leave space to turn inside out. Then close the edge and quilt it. I vote for "purple vase" for a title! Patty

I love this creation, cheery but serene.
