Book Review and GiveAway

Art Quilt Portfolio: People & Portraits
Profiles of Major Artists
Galleries of Inspiring Works
by Martha Sielman

Published by Lark Crafts

WOW!  That one, single word pretty much sums up my thoughts on this book. I've always been a fan of art that has faces in it. At one time I really, really wanted to create art with faces in it but was so intimidated. Now that I have conquered that need and have done that myself, I find that when I view a book such as this I am in such awe at the many differing ways that artists can create portraits.

Just as each and every person is unique but with similar qualities, so are the quilts in this book. While they are all made with fabric and created with batting and such, the life experiences brought to each quilt by its maker gives it such life and interest. The different ways and techniques these artists use to create their work is so diverse as well. The types of fabric one artist chooses compared to another, the amount of realism portrayed, the amount of detail added....oh my! WOW!

If you enjoy art with people, faces, groups, etc., or just art quilts in general, you will love this book. There are several artists who are showcased with several works and they speak about themselves and their work. I always find that interesting. And then each section of the book has a small gallery showing work by others. I've definitely found some new favorite artists after reading this book.

This is a book I would definitely add to my library. And lucky me I can. For some reason Lark sent me two of these books and I'm going to give one away.

If you would like a chance to win this book, please comment on this post. Please be sure I have a way to email you if you win. To be eligible you must have a USA shipping/mailing address. I will draw a winner on April 15.  Good luck!
