More Stamp Making

I made four more stamps yesterday before I cleaned off the work table to do other things.

Del asked in the comments of yesterday's stamping post what I use to carve with. Here are my carving tools. They are both the same type of tool, just different brands. The one on the left is Speedball and I've had the set for several years. The one on the right is Blick's brand from DickBlick.com. I just got the Blick set last weekend, it was part of a workshop kit in a mixed media class I took from Susan Purney Mark.

Both came with a set of blades. You can purchase replacement blades and they are pretty reasonable in price and I just did that recently with my Speedball set. Both of these sets store the blades right in the handle section of the tool. The ends either pop off or unscrew to store the blades.

Here is a closer look at the four newest stamps I made.

My favorites out of these four are the last two pictured. I'm still trying to use up all of the carving block material that I don't like as well (see yesterday's post on that). Another thing I find with the block material that I don't care for is that it is much more difficult to get really fine detail in your design. So I'm sticking mostly with straight and slightly curved angles at this point.

And this is what my work table looks like now. I am trying out something that I've had floating in my head for a time. I want to see if I can mimic the look of one of my quilting techniques in a painting. We'll see how that goes!

Thank you everyone for your comments in yesterday's post. Have a great day!
