Yes I'm Still Around

I guess I've been busy lately and haven't posted. I've been trying out some new techniques so I haven't actually been getting a lot made. The first picture here is a page from an altered book I'm starting. Altered books are a new thing for me. I'm going to make this one about cats....cats I love currently, cats I've loved, and cats in general. Can you tell I love cats? Next photo is a small quilt collage. This was fun to make.

Here's Something Different

I really enjoy browsing photo sights and blogs where artists show the work they've done on their art journal pages. So I thought I would try doing something similar. I started with watercolors on watercolor paper for the background. I then drew in the flower. Added the face and colored in the petals and leaves. I used some cool new gel pens that give a little dimension....called Glaze pens. They are neat. They come in glossy, matte, and metallic.....had to get all of them. I then added in some text. The text is a few lines from an old song....I Never Promised You A Rose Garden.

A Sample for Work

At work, we are trying out some new products, and one of them is silk fabric sheets you can run through your inkjet printer. Along with the fabric sheets was some graphic/project software. I chose one of the graphics and printed it on the silk sheet (center of pillow). Then I fused some interfacing to the backside of the silk to give it more body. Added some borders and a back, then stuffed. I like how it turned out.

4x4 ABC Swap

Here are my "letter C" swap pieces. This is the first time I've done collage and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. I know that there are some things I'd do differently next time....but hey, you don't learn if you don't try, right?
